The only national scientific institution that studies ethnology and folklore in the Netherlands is the Ethnology Department of the Meertens Instituut in Amsterdam. The National Open-Air Folk Museum (Nederlands Openluchtmuseum) website gives a good impression of the museum’s temporary exhibitions, and its important material culture collections including Dutch folklore and regional housing styles: www.openluchtmuseum.nl.
